The earthquake that occurred last night (early morning of Friday, 11 Mehr 1404, equivalent to 3 October 2025) with a magnitude of 5.3 on the moment magnitude scale struck near Zavareh in Ardastan County, Isfahan Province. The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at the geographical coordinates of 33.88°N and 52.95°E, at a depth of 10 kilometers. It occurred at approximately 00:05 AM local time (equivalent to 20:35 UTC on Thursday), and the shaking was felt for about 10 seconds in central parts of Isfahan

The earthquake was felt in 10 counties of Isfahan Province (including Ardastan, Nain, and central areas) as well as in neighboring provinces such as Tehran (particularly in Damavand, Absard, Kilan, Varamin, and Fasham), Qom, Yazd, Karaj, and even Semnan. The geographical extent of the affected areas was significant, with the epicenter approximately 300 kilometers from Tehran.
Following the main earthquake, several aftershocks were recorded:
- 3.1 magnitude at 00:12 AM (depth of 10 kilometers)
- 3.9 magnitude at 00:14 AM (depth of 10 kilometers)
- Additional aftershocks of around 3 magnitude (up to 4 more, with depths ranging from 6 to 10 kilometers)
The Director General of Crisis Management of Isfahan Governorate stated that no reports of casualties or material damage have been received so far, and 12 assessment teams have been dispatched to the affected areas. The Red Crescent is also on full alert, and evaluations are ongoing. Some posts on X have mentioned rumors of a nuclear test or a connection to the Natanz site, but official sources and seismological data have confirmed it as a natural earthquake, with the 10-kilometer depth being inconsistent with human-induced explosions.
